Sony RMO Drive
This is a high-end MO drive from Sony. ItÆs a little big in size when compared to other drives. The disks are 5.25 inch in size and can hold data equivalent to 5.2 GB. The drive uses a wide SCSI cable on the drive interface and a 25-pin cable in the system interface. It does not come with any utility software. It is excellent in performance. It gave a data transfer rate (read) of 1530 Kbps and 864 Kbps for write. Even the access time was impressive at 26 seconds. The drive also performed well in the real-world tests taking only 20.71 seconds to back up the test file of 30 MB. It was, however, a little slow in running applications from the disk as it took 11 seconds to open the test Photoshop file. The drive is definitely a good buy if it is used for high-end niche applications such as graphics design, CAD/CAM work and where price is not a limiting factor.
